Happy Summer!

Our last week of school was a busy one!

We learned about lobsters from Mrs. Miller!

We visited Eartha!

We performed our plays for our K buddies and our friends in Mrs. Lincoln's class.

We had a blast at Crescent Beach!

Happy summer, everyone!

This week in room 108!

After much preparation and rehearsing, the day finally came for students to present their first grade portfolios to their families!

Play rehearsals are in full swing in room 108!

As many of you know, Lee Urban volunteers in our classroom each Tuesday and Thursday.  He is a man of many talents!  In addition to teaching in many capacities,  Mr. Urban also organizes the CascoBay UkeFest which will be held this year on Friday, July 1, at St. Luke’s Cathedral in Portland from 2:00 to 8:00.  As he says, “it’s for all ages, all free, and all fun.”

There’ll be workshops in the afternoon for everyone, from those who have never played a ukulele to those who consider themselves to be advanced players.  And then there’ll be performances by local ukulele groups from 6:00 to 8:00, with a group strum and sing-along for everyone at 8:00 with three easy and well-known songs.

There's an opportunity to make a donation so that kids who never thought they would have their very own ukuleles can, in fact, have them, as well as an opportunity to make a donation so that residents of the Maine Veterans Home living with Alzheimer’s can experience the joy of music through iPods filled with personalized playlists.

All the details - what workshops, who’s performing, how to donate - are on CascoBay UkeFest's Facebook page.
